Poplin Wrapped! Our Most Popular Blog Posts of 2025

I love counting down our most popular content at the end of the year. As a personal stylist for women, I have plenty of opinions and favorite things—and I clearly can’t stop sharing. I also get to work with truly incredible women, and being able to share even a portion of our clients’ journeys with the broader Poplin community is always such a thrill.

We had a very big year over here, so we’re highlighting 2025 across three blog posts. Below, you’ll find our most-read blog posts from the year. Let’s see how many of these you remember reading.

And that’s not all. This blog series also includes 2025’s most popular posts from our entire archive—plus a really fun recap of the year in Poplin-land. so keep your eyes peeled.

Most importantly, none of this exists without you. Poplin is what it is because of our community—clients, members, group coaching participants, blog readers, cheerleaders, and community partners.

2013 was a long time ago, folks. And thanks to you, what started then just keeps going.

I appreciate you—so very much.

24. 2025 Spring Color Trend: Rose

What’s more fun than scoping out fresh colors as the seasons change? As a personal stylist for women who specializes in intentional online shopping lists (aka Uber Wishlists) for clients, I’m SO excited for this collection of shades. Here’s our third post in the series.

Whether you opt for true rose or pale pink, this can absolutely act as a neutral in your closet, depending on your color palette. Remember to draw the eye to the areas of your body you’d like to celebrate using bright or light colors (like rose or pink!), prints, texture and skin. The eye always goes to skin. Now, have fun with rose. Pull out something you already own and learn to love it again by giving it a new pairing or pick up something new. As always, here’s some inspiration just for you. Enjoy!

23. We’re Featured in CNN Underscored! Read Our Expert Tips on Jeans and Tights.

As a personal stylist for women, I have endless opinions about all things style. So when the team at CNN Underscored reached out with questions about tights and high-waisted jeans, I had plenty to say. I’m always profoundly grateful when Poplin is included in the press.—especially because we aren’t on Facebook, Instagram, X, or any of the usual social platforms.

That’s why every time years of blog posts, SEO, client love, and online reviews lead to organic press, we take a moment to celebrate. It’s deeply meaningful.

I hope you enjoy the two CNN stories below—packed with recommendations from yours truly and insights from other stylists I admire. And honestly? I can’t wait to hear whether you manage to get through them without adding a new pair of tights to your cart. I certainly didn’t.

21. Join the #LAFireReliefEfforts: Easy Ways to Support and Give Back to Those Affected

There’s so much information out there about what’s happening right now in Southern California. So, I’m not your source for those details. What I can tell you is that people and the LA County Fire Department need help right now and into the future. So, if you can, please give. Here are three options and of course there are many more. Just be sure to do your research to ensure your donations are going where they are intended.

19. Poplin on a Live Podcast: Lessons Learned Leaving Meta

As a personal stylist for women, sharing not only client stories but also client images is essential. This was one of the many reasons that the prospect of leaving Instagram (and, to a lesser extent, Facebook) was a very big deal. But, as the owner of a values-based business, it was a no brainer. As part of the styling process, I help each client identify her body type, budget, personal style key words, colors and values. They don’t need to be my values. What I care most about is giving women agency over their own lives. It’s important to understand that we are not victims, but are instead powerful drivers of our paths. Understanding what you value and then reflecting those values in your life choices, when possible, is important.

Because of this perspective, it felt essential that I leave Meta. So, in December, 2021, that’s what I did. After all, I knew that I was opposed to several of the company’s practices and by being a part of the platform, specifically helping to generate ad revenue for the company, I was not living my values.

18. Should I Return These Shoes?

As a personal stylist for women, a big part of my job is creating wishlists of various sizes. Each client receives an Uber Wishlist of 35-45 items handpicked for her. The list is designed to communicate her authentic personal style, flatter her frame and be in a cohesive color palette that ensures every pieces plays nicely with the others.

I’ve been creating these wishlists for over a decade thanks to my second client, Heidi. Heidi, then a User Experience Designer at Nordstrom, didn’t want to go shopping in person and asked for another option. In an effort to come up with a solution that would meet the high standards of a UX Designer at one of our most beloved retailers, the Uber Wishlist was born. Prior to COVID, clients chose between in person shopping, Uber Wishlists and a hybrid approach. Since COVID, we focus on wishlists and skip in person shopping altogether.

17. How do I Keep My Layered Necklaces from Getting Tangled?

As a personal stylist for women based in Seattle, I’m constantly experimenting with new combinations to keep things feeling fresh and curated for my clients. Personally, I’ve been deep into layering necklaces for the past year or so. A champion of mixing metals, I’ve been addicted to layering two to three necklaces at a time- one in silver the others in gold, or visa versa.

If you, like me, love layering jewelry but don’t love the incessant tangling, I’ve got great news for you. There are easy solutions to prevent tangling necklaces.

I’m SO excited to share another real client style transformation. It’s so important to us that every client learns to buy clothes and style herself to communicate her authentic personal style in clothes that flatter her frame and communicate her values, when relevant. 14. Reclaim Your Style Story: A Postpartum Guide to Dressing for Work

It’s been 15 years since I went back to work after the birth of my son, but as a personal stylist for women based in Seattle, I see many of my clients struggle with the same challenges. In fact, this post was inspired by a request from our recent Women in Finance Workshop.

It’s hard enough navigating the complexities of life with a newborn, whether or not you have other children. Heading back to the office can be both exhilarating and exhausting. But when you factor in not only what to wear, but how to feel good in your ever-changing body, things get even more complicated.

Hence this blog post.

We’re diving into some of the key issues that come with heading back to work. Like many women, I was pumping during the day at the office. I also traveled between offices in the Seattle area, adding more challenges. Between my own experience years ago and what I’ve learned from clients since, I’ve gathered quite a few insights.

Here we go.

13. Sustainable Luxury: Cactus Leather Never Looked So Good

As a personal stylist for women, I work with clients both in person and virtually to ensure that each one is wearing clothes that communicate her authentic personal style, flatter her frame and are in her ideal color palette. I don’t dress everyone the same and I don’t dress everyone like me. My clients are so different from one another and their styles vary widely. My job is to translate her style into actual pieces and give her a strategy to maintain this elevated and streamlined approach moving forward.

A big part of this endeavor is discovering the perfect item or brand that jumps off the screen at her. In my experience, women tend to appreciate pieces that feel unique to them and as the number of retailers decrease, that feels more challenging for folks. Introducing clients and my community to new makers is one of my very favorite things.

And if you happen to be searching for the ideal September- November calendar. I am a strong vote for this one.

10. The First Step to a Wardrobe That Works: Understanding What Doesn’t

As a personal stylist for women, understanding what prevents a woman from harnessing her authentic personal style is a big component of my job. If you’ve been a member of the Poplin Community for a while, you likely know that the Poplin System relies on filters to help each woman have a curated wardrobe that simplifies her life without sacrificing her unique personal style or functionality. Those filters are: personal style key words (words you’d like people to use to describe your style), body type and color palette. Taking it to the next level? You can also throw in budget, values and lifestyle.

9. It Only Takes 3.5% to Turn the Tide

Being a personal stylist is an unusual job. I often joke that the consultation is just an opportunity for a potential client to see whether or not she’s comfortable changing her clothes in front of me. After all, the services and pricing are on full display on the website.

Because of this unusually intimate job, I also have a really delightful opportunity to have very real conversations with a wide variety of women.

And they are pretty freaked out.

Which is a reasonable response as our country takes very real steps into authoritarianism and autocracy.

8. My Favorite Master Aesthetician Shares All

As a personal stylist for women based in Seattle, I know that style is not only about clothes. Understanding how to take care of your skin is a skill and having access to high quality information on that topic is challenging. Sure, there’s an abundance of information about skincare online, but who do you trust? And how much is rooted in profit, rather than serving you with the the right info for you?

When it comes to skincare, my approach is to ask Kelly Perez Snyder during a visit to Cake Skincare. She’s my go-to for high quality information based in experience and coming from a place of service. During our Momentum Membership, Kelly shared her expertise with our membership for a month filled with excellent recommendations and helpful Q&As.

6. What Style Leather Jacket Should I Wear in Spring?

As a personal stylist for women based in Seattle, I know that there is a whole lot of layering going on throughout the year. Our summer doesn’t come until mid-July, but delightfully, it lasts through the end of September. This means that much of our year requires a top layer. After working with hundreds of women over the years, a common question is always about that tricky final layer. How do I make sure that my jacket elevates my outfit, communicates my authentic personal style, AND is functional for the weather? A blog post from the archives about what to wear besides a fleece jacket is a great place to start.

5. My Favorite Things: Black Friday Edition

It’s super sale season again. I don’t know about you, but my shopping list is long. I’ve been hoarding items as I wait for the Black Friday sales to kick off. Of course, there are some pieces that were too dreamy to risk—so I’ve purchased those over the past few weeks. My criteria? Is it likely that my size will still be there when the Black Friday sales arrive and, if not, am I willing to risk losing it? If not, I buy. Otherwise, it goes onto my Pinterest boards while I await the deals.

As someone who spends a very high percentage of my time deep in shopping mode, I’m THRILLED to share two crazy-comprehensive Black Friday lists with you. But I’ll be honest: my general approach to the season is to think about the brands and retailers you love, jump on their mailing lists, and get ready. After all, nearly every retailer is going to offer some sort of sale. It’s better to intentionally focus on the brands and items that speak to you than to be wooed by overwhelming markdowns.

4. Finally! Cool Hokas! It's a Marni x Hoka Collab!

As a personal stylist for women, the most common request from clients is “comfortable shoes.” That means something different to every woman. For some, a four inch heel is comfortable and for others, they feel like the only option is an orthopedic shoe.

Typically, the answer is somewhere in between. I struggled with foot pain on the ball of my foot for years. It seemed to come and go and it wasn’t clear if specific shoes made it worse. Several doctors seemed to think the answer was to start wearing Hokas. After all, as a stylist, I think they just assumed that I wear very high heels everyday… which I do not. Assumptions are called that for a reason.

3. Inclusive Sizing: These 15 Female Founded Brands Make Memorable Pieces for Women up to 3X

As a personal stylist for women, I’m THRILLED that more and more mainstream brands are providing inclusive sizes for women size 3X and in some cases, beyond. But, the options aren’t limitless. And often, the result is that women who wear extended sizes (aka plus size) clothing, end up with boring pieces because they can’t find unique options. No more!

I’m a super fan of these brands that are expressive and size inclusive. If you or someone in your life struggles to find clothes that communicate her authentic personal style in any size, I’m so glad you’re here.

Not a size 3X? That’s okay, too! Remember that these brands include size 3X. The sizes start anywhere from 0 to 10. Enjoy!

2. Why Seasonal Color Analysis is Important and Why it Isn't

As a personal stylist for women, identifying a seasonal color analysis for each client is an integral part of my process, but probably not for the reasons you might think.

Reading this article while eating breakfast this morning, I was reminded that my approach to the importance of seasonal color analysis is not common. I do think it matters. But, I also think it doesn’t. The phrase I often use with clients is, “don’t let the colors run your life. Choose a season that speaks to you, commit to it, and move on.”

1. From Suede to Shearling: 52 Fall Trends Worth Braving the Rain For

One of the great joys of being a personal stylist for women is diving into seasonal trends, especially fall. I’ve been sharing my favorite fall trends for more than a decade, and this exercise never gets old. In fact, my biggest obstacles are narrowing down the list and preventing myself from shopping the entire time I write. Sigh.

As the temperatures drop, being excited about putting together an outfit can feel harder—but that’s where fall fashion trends come in. This year, we’re going for something a little different. Members of Continuum, the exclusive membership for Poplin clients, are integrating fall trends into their daily looks as part of the lifetime style support they enjoy after completing their styling package.
