Poplin Speaker: In For the Hutch
Last year, my friend and breast cancer survivor, Cassie Walker Johnson, was a speaker at this event. Attending would naturally provide an opportunity to support her and get dressed up! As it turns out, it was a crazy fun event. This year, my client Elise Van Vuren is a speaker. Elise’s husband, Kyle Thomas Spane, passed away from colon cancer 7 months after his diagnosis. He was 35.
Elise is an extraordinary person. Resilient, kind, fun and driven. The Kyle Spane Endowment raised over $2 million to fight colon cancer. Her speech is sure to be inspiring, as she always is. And she’ll be wearing a Poplin dress! So if you’ve been looking for an opportunity to rock cocktail attire and have a great night of giving, dining and dancing, this one’s for you.

No Kings Protest plus…
Know Your Rights: Protest Safety, Know Your Rights & De-Escalation Training
I’ve been going to protests for the majority of my life. Sometimes they are empowering and sometimes they are monotonous or frustrating. Always- they matter.
Protest shows the world that we don’t all agree with what is happening right now. It shows our government, that the government is for the people by the people. The loudest, most extreme among us are dominating the narrative on social media and even the traditional media. And it sure looks like we all support this shift towards fascism.
If you are a citizen of this country, you have both the power and the responsibility to stand up, especially when others are being targeted. Please prioritize showing up to protest and have your voice heard. And if you are planning to protest, it’s time to understand your rights.
Protest Safety and deescalation training (virtual)
WHO: Everyone who is considering protesting at any time.
WHEN: Monday, October 6th, 2025 via Zoom
No Kings Protest
If you don’t use your voice, someone else will use it for you. On October 18, millions of us are rising again to show the world: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people. WHO: Every person who cares about democracy.
WHEN: October 18th, 2025 @ various locations across the country.
Fashion In Flight
This is considerably less serious than the last option. Remember that joy is integral to resilience and you can often learn just as much about yourself in joy as in the midst of hardship. So, how about some joy in your very own super cool outfit immersed in fashion from Northwest designers?
Fashion in Flight
WHO: Anyone who loves fashion ages 10 and up, especially if you are looking for an excuse to wear something magnificent.
WHEN: Saturday, November 8th, 2025
WHAT to WEAR: “Dress up and dress fashionably for this event, we will be conducting red-carpet interviews of attendees the night of the event.”
WHAT: Fashion District NW & The Museum of Flight have partnered for FASHION IN FLIGHT.
I know, fall is busy. Instead of letting your calendar dictate itself, be intentional and choose events that align with your values and help you experience joy and release. It also helps if they give you opportunities to feel a sense of belonging and wear some pretty clothes!
