As a personal stylist for women, I work with clients both in person and virtually to ensure that each one is wearing clothes that communicate her authentic personal style, flatter her frame and are in her ideal color palette. I don’t dress everyone the same and I don’t dress everyone like me. My clients are so different from one another and their styles vary widely. My job is to translate her style into actual pieces and give her a strategy to maintain this elevated and streamlined approach moving forward.
A big part of this endeavor is discovering the perfect item or brand that jumps off the screen at her. In my experience, women tend to appreciate pieces that feel unique to them and as the number of retailers decrease, that feels more challenging for folks. Introducing clients and my community to new makers is one of my very favorite things.
I also check in with each client to understand her values. Shopping with intention is key and understanding what’s important to her helps me set her up for success. Sometimes a client cares about sustainable pieces or small makers. Other times, she just wants a great value or the item that flatters her frame the most. I’m here for all of it.
Right now, I am obsessed with these creative and memorable handbags from Santos by Monica. Yes the brand has clothing and accessories, too. But the handbags are really my focus. They are breathtaking, memorable and for my clients who are values-forward, supporting the brand gives you all the feels.
I have a cactus leather jacket from another brand, that I adore… in theory. But the fabric is so stiff that it’s difficult to get a good fit. In contrast, his Latina-owned brand based in NYC found the ideal use for agave leather- handbags.
