As a personal stylist for women, I’ve been curating shopping lists from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale since day one- over 13 Anniversary Sales ago. I’m excited to report that this year’s collection is better than we’ve seen in several years. Of course, there’s a wide array of basics, a jam packed selection of denim and then, as per usual, some major themes. When it comes to tops, you’ll find a balance of classic choices, super feminine looks and a smaller portion of edgy and boho items.

Each year I organize my picks in different ways, with a goal to make the sale as shoppable as possible for you, Dear Reader. After all, the women’s portion of Anniversary has over 18,000 items. This year, rather than organize by style or body type, I’m listing my favorite pieces by item type. I’ll highlight my top three or so on each post and then give you my overall favs- typically you can expect about 50 items per post. 2. Super fun and still flattering, this bold fun a-line skirt, with pockets!, will be a warm weather pick for years to come.

3. Pleats are big right now, so it’s all about finding a wide leg trouser that flatters your frame. Make sure that they don’t add extra bulk at your stomach. If you can achieve that, you’ll find these to be a fresh and useful take on an old classic.

4. I’m a sucker for a great cuff. It’s all about proportions and these have an effortless weekend vibe.

5. As with so many of the dresses on our Anniversary Picks list, this embellished skirt is sure to bring joy to you and everyone you interact with.

6. There aren’t many barrel, architectural or balloon pants on sale right now. These are a win if you’re on the hunt for this style. Remember that these are a carpenter/ barrel so the large front pockets draw attention to the hips and are a little more masculine than other barrel choices. They’ll look great on someone who loves a masculine inspired piece and anyone who isn’t worried about minimizing her hips.

The Flare is still going strong.

The 70’s inspired cut is flattering for most figures and elongates your legs. If it’s full length, it will always look better with a heel. Ankle length offers the flexibility of a flat or sneaker.

The silhouette is flattering for most body types and wide leg pants continue to be arguably the most popular style right now.

Whether you are opting for vegan leather or leather, a comfortable and flattering pair of pants is a dream as the temperatures drop.
