As a personal stylist for women, I’ve been curating shopping lists from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale since day one- over 13 Anniversary Sales ago. I’m excited to report that this year’s collection is better than we’ve seen in several years. Of course, there’s a wide array of basics, a jam packed selection of denim and then, as per usual, some major themes. When it comes to tops, you’ll find a balance of classic choices, super feminine looks and a smaller portion of edgy and boho items.
Each year I organize my picks in different ways, with a goal to make the sale as shoppable as possible for you, Dear Reader. After all, the women’s portion of Anniversary has over 18,000 items. This year, rather than organize by style or body type, I’m listing my favorite pieces by item type. I’ll highlight my top three or so on each post and then give you my overall favs- typically you can expect about 50 items per post. My Top 5 Favorite Coats and Jackets From Nordstrom’s Anniversary Sale
1. I love a funnel neck. This is a fresh take on a classic trench.
2. I love this cut and have something similar in light blue suede. It’s a dream with high waisted pants.
3. After my trip to Paris and seeing Napolean’s tomb, I can’t get enough of military inspired pieces. Luckily, retailers and I are aligned on this one.
4. This Season’s Oversized Blazer. Just be thoughtful about pairing so that it doesn’t overwhelm your shape.
5. A double breasted wool coat can easily accommodate a leather jacket or blazer underneath for maximum flexibility in cold weather.

Your go-to leather jacket
Find the silhouette that flatters your frame and can be used as a second or third layer, depending on styling. Be thoughtful about whether your prefer a more masculine or feminine cut. Often, women with Rectangle and Inverted Triangle body types prefer something that feels more feminine (not necessarily girly). Neither feminine or masculine is preferable in general- this is all about you and how you want to express yourself. Just opt for what feels authentic.
