Have You Seen Us in CNN Underscored?
As a personal stylist for women focused on teaching as many women as I can how to simplify their lives while harnessing their authentic personal style AND understanding how to dress their body types, I LOVE opportunities to share insight with new audiences. Fortunately, I’ve become a regular contributor to CNN Underscored, allowing me to share the Popiln perspective with others. This is exciting for multiple reasons. First, I mean, it’s CNN Underscored. So, there’s that.
But more importantly, we’ve spent the last few months deep in photo shoots for our Sustained Style Series. We’re highlighting clients who have been with Poplin 5, 7, 10 and even 13 years. I can’t tell you how meaningful it has been to connect and reconnect with so many clients and hear about how Poplin has impacted their lives. Our goal is to teach each client to fish, as in, I want her to finish her initial Poplin package understanding how to leverage the Poplin filters and her digital tools to shop and dress in a way that is streamlined, focused and ensures she communicates her authentic clothes with every look.
As we interview the Sustained Style clients, it’s become clear how much little bits of information can stick with a client and help guide her for years. I was struck by this when Poplin client, Tarah, sent over her updated Google review. We started together 13 years ago and just completed her Sustained Style shoot last week. In her review, she highlighted a line I said to her more than a decade ago.
Less than an hour later, I was reading a CNN Underscored article that I had contributed to and was surprised to see the same line mentioned. It reminded me how many style mantras I have and how useful these tips and tricks can be.
Back to the reasons contributing to CNN Underscore is such a win…. Over here in Poplin-land, we have never paid for media. We’ve been fortunate to be included in Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, Huff Post and more. When I chose to take Poplin off of social media, I had to think very hard about the potential ramifications of this move. Specifically, I thought about the Microsoft Campaign that we were VERY fortunate to be included in early in the business. That campaign was purely on social media- and if a similar opportunity were to present itself now, Poplin would not be able to participate because we do not participate in social media (LinkedIn and Pinterest are the exceptions).
I expected that this move would greatly diminish our ability to share Poplin with the world.
But, thanks to YOU, our stellar Poplin Community, the magic of SEO, online reviews and Reddit, we’re thriving. And thanks to the folks at CNN Underscored who found be without limiting their research to stylists on social media, this collaboration continues to flourish.
With that, let’s give you some links, shall we? Here are our contributions in CNN Underscored so far. We recently contributed to another article going live in the coming weeks on suede jackets, too. So, keep your eyes peeled. Happy reading!
