Reasonably Priced Custom Made Jeans?! Yes, Please!

As a personal stylist for women based in Seattle and works with clients throughout the country, I’m VERY grateful for my years-long partnership with a Master Tailor. Finding a great fitting pair of jeans seems like an impossible dream for so many of my clients. Whether she’s short waisted, petite, wears extended sizes, has a small waist and larger hips, you name it, we’ve addressed it. Identifying the specific cuts that flatter her frame makes shopping for the perfect denim significantly easier. But sometimes, we still need tailoring. A short waisted petite woman, for instance, is destined to a life of tailoring…. until now.
I learned about Neems from one of my clients in Continuum. The brand was hosting a Pop Up in Pioneer Square and I opted to go check it out. I know you’re thinking it, so I’ll answer proactively. Yes, I could reach out to the brand first and find out about a complimentary pair. But, I’ll be honest. In these situations, I usually prefer to go in like any other customer, keep my line of work to myself and try things out, the same way one of my clients would. So, off to the Neems Pop Up I went. I came away with a pair of wide leg blue jeans. The process online is similar to the in-person experience. The camera is able to take your measurements FOR you. It determines how to make the jeans that will fit you best and you can offer up any notes for the makers.

Yes! A full length pair of jeans with a heel are going to be the most flattering.
But, let’s be honest. Are you wearing jeans on a Saturday with a heel? If not, make sure to adjust the length of your Neems accordingly. I recommend asking for “ankle length plus one inch” in the comments. This will make your pants the ideal length to wear with a flat sandal. I wear mine with Birkenstocks, or something similar.
2. If your size fluctuates, be thoughtful of your order.
I LOVE this concept for all women, but especially those who struggle to find a pair of jeans that fit well, are comfortable and flattering. Remember that the computer is taking your measurements on the day that you are ordering the jeans, so if your weight is up or down, be cognizant of that. Choosing the option with stretch is one way to address this. You can also make other notes for the makers, if necessary. I find that mine fit well most of the time and sometimes feel a little tight, depending on my weight (muscle/body fat ratio) at the time.
3. Opt for the style that is most flattering for your body.
Having jeans that are tailored to your measurements is only half the struggle. It’s important to opt for pieces in a shape that flatters your frame. Even if a pair of skinny jeans technically fits a woman with an Inverted Triangle body type, when she wears them with an oversized top, she still won’t look her best. 4. Never Sacrifice Your Authentic Personal Style
Sure! You’ve finally found jeans that fit. It’s thrilling. You’re ready to oder them in every color and style. But wait. Keep your Poplin filters in mind. Make sure that your choices celebrate your body type AND that the styles are aligned with your authentic personal style. Even a pair of flattering jeans won’t feel right if they aren’t your style. I am really into the fit of my Neems jeans and they are absolutely very flattering. (I opted for the wide leg style at 1 inch longer than my ankle in dark blue denim. After all, I have a Triangle shaped figure.) That being said, I’m really into barrel jeans right now and would have been more inclined to buy a pair of those. So while I have these flattering jeans that fit, I’m not diving into them because I’m just not feeling traditional wide leg jeans right now. I also am able to buy jeans off the rack (the right style, of course) and not need them tailored. So, having a pair of jeans that fit and make me feel good isn’t as challenging as I know which silhouettes flatter my frame.
The moral of the story is to be thoughtful about the pair you choose. And for those of you who struggle to find jeans that fit, start with one pair and build from there. I will say that I’m LOVING the Neems options for clients and we’re having wild success with them. The price point is stellar, clocking in under $300 and in many cases, way under $300! I’m also very enthusiastic about the custom denim skirts.
