This One Poplin Membership Lesson Might Change How You See Your Closet

My collection of shoes for week 2 of the Shoe Challenge.

We’re less than one month into Continuum — the Poplin membership designed exclusively for Poplin clients — and members are already finding new ways to fall in love with their closets again.

As a personal stylist for women, my goal has always been to help each client embrace her authentic personal style, choose pieces that flatter her existing frame, and do it all while reducing her cognitive load.

I often say that I’m teaching her to fish rather than simply choosing a few lovely outfits. Because understanding how to not just get dressed, but to love what you’re wearing — well, that’s a game changer.

For over a dozen years, I’ve heard requests for ongoing support as life evolves. We listened, we tested, we tweaked. And earlier this month, we launched Continuum, the membership designed to offer Poplin clients a lifetime of style support. Members enjoy a strong sense of community, ongoing learning, encouragement from one another, and manageable monthly challenges.

The Membership Lesson that Will Change How You Engage with Your Closet

This month’s challenge? Creating knockout outfits starting with your shoes. Members pull out five pairs of shoes to kick off the week and build daily outfits from the ground up. After wearing a pair, it goes back into the closet to make space for another choice. Over time, they’re discovering which shoes they truly love, which pairs no longer serve them, and new combinations they’ve never tried before.

Part of the magic is that reengaging with what you love doesn’t cost a thing. Starting with your shoes invites creativity and helps you see your existing wardrobe with fresh eyes. And since understanding what shoes are appropriate for the day’s activities is already a key part of getting dressed, why not let that decision drive your creative process?

Here’s my outfit starting with the white Coach loafers. This is the first Coach item of my life, but I was obsessed with the white “C” on the white shoe.

Poplin clients have a gallery of outfit photos to draw from each day. So one approach is to pick a pair of shoes, find a photo that features them, and pat yourself on the back. Some Continuum members are embracing that ease, while others are diving into the challenge of discovering something entirely new.

Here’s your chance to take a page from this crew and fall in love with your wardrobe again — starting with your shoes.

I can’t wait to see where it takes you.
