  1. Layer underneath.

It may sound obvious, but when it’s time to execute, it’s clear how difficult this one can be. After all, most layering pieces (aka long underwear, thermals, base layers) are full length and an internet search for short options often comes up empty. The key is to search for base layers that are made to work with ski boots. Search for “3/4 length” or “boot length”. Here are a few of my favs.

2. Pair with ankle boots.

Yes! Stylistically, cropped pants and ankle boots do work together. I especially appreciate an ankle length pant and an ankle boot. Wear a pair of no show socks or short socks, depending on desired styling. You can even opt for smart wool or another cozy option thanks to our good friends at REI to keep your feet extra toasty.

3. Pair with knee high boots… sometimes.

This one doesn’t always work. In fact, it doesn’t work most of the time. But, I really like it when you pair a wide leg cropped pant with a tall boot. Often, the shorter the pant length, the more successful this look will be.

And there you have it! Make sure you are on the Poplin email list. This week’s Poplin on Point Newsletter will also include a wide variety of hip ankle pants that are ready for some pairing. Enjoy!
