Why It Matters
Idaho is one of the most restrictive states in the country for abortion access. PPGWNI is a rare, critical resource—providing care to people across the Northwest who have nowhere else to turn.
We recommend checking out these films and the PPGWNI annual report to better understand what’s at stake:
SEE
Zurawski v. Texas
Sandy and I went to see Zurawski v. Texas presented by the ACLU and SIFF a few months back. This critically acclaimed documentary film shadows three clients from Texas denied abortion care—even while facing life-threatening pregnancy complications—and the Center attorney fighting on their behalf. In one profoundly heartbreaking case in the film, the doctors confirmed that the baby would not live for more than a few moments after birth and yet the mother was still forced to carry her pregnancy to term. I can’t tell you how powerful it is.
Never Rarely Sometimes Always
Idaho is one of the most restrictive states in the country for access to abortion.PPGWNI is a rare resource for women in Idaho (and other states throughout the country) who need access to abortion. This film follows a pair of teenage girls in rural Pennsylvania travel to New York City to seek out medical help after an unintended pregnancy. It shows the tremendous hardship women face when they need to travel for reproductive healthcare services.

This is a good way to get a quick overview of the situation and statistics but it’s only the beginning.
LISTEN
If you are a woman in the world, you have your own story of the importance of access to reproductive healthcare. Controlling when and if you have children, getting support during menopause or peri-menopause, finding the source of your heavy periods or countless other issues- we each have a story to tell. It may feel essential to block everything out right now, but our stories are important. Reflect on your own. Listen to the stories of the women around you. Ask your friends and then consider how things could have turned out differently without access to services and support.
Let’s Show Up… and Release
If you’ve ever relied on reproductive healthcare—or know someone who has—this is a chance to give back. Whether you buy one or more drawing tickets, advocate for reproductive rights with your elected officials or show up to protests, it matters.

These are stressful times and it’s easy to feel despair and let inertia take hold. Hope is a verb. We choose to hope, to feel joy and connection with others. This is an essential part of the work and it builds resilience.
Take meaningful action then cuddle up with some friends and release so you have the energy to do it again.
Together, we rage. We raise. We release.
Let’s do this.
