Rocking the Photorealism

Catherine Catherine Malandrino 'Harper' shift dress. Nordstrom. $138.

Whenever I work with a client, we focus on four things: body shape, lifestyle, budget and the impression he or she wants make via his/her clothes. Specifically, I ask clients a question: What three words would you like people to use to describe your style? Then, we use those words as a final filter when determining if a piece works for the client.

Topshop Photorealistic print midi skirt. Nordstrom. $96.

Naturally, I've done this exercise on myself, as well. One of my key words is, "memorable." With that in mind, you can easily see why I've become just a little bit obsessed with pieces that display interesting photography. (It also helps that I'm married to a photographer.

So much so that weeks ago I purchased a Topshop skirt that has pleats (gasp!) terrible for my body shape, just to have that photo. (See! It looks even better in person.) Of course, I have to compensate for those pleats by wearing heels with it, among other things. But, when you love something, it is worth the complication.

Anyway, I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the incredible items out there right now that use your body as a canvas. Whether it is a gift for you or a gift for someone else, photo prints make an impression, for sure.
